Inside JABA Series #4:

Behavior Analytic Contributions to Public Health and Telehealth

This CE event reviews the contributions to Public Health and Telehealth that have been made by behavior analytic researchers, with a particular emphasis on the contributions that have been published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis in general, as well as in JABA’s upcoming Special Series on Public Health and Telehealth more specifically. In the realm of Public Health, studies that targeted obesity, physical activity, safe infant positioning, and the development of independent living skills are discussed. With regard to Telehealth, the historical developments and current telehealth practices are discussed, especially in light of the field of ABA’s need to pivot towards this type of remote intervention in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe two areas of Public Health that Behavior Analysis researchers have studied.
  2. Describe why Dr. David Wacker and colleagues began using Telehealth to intervene with “difficult” behavioral issues.
  3. State one area of Behavior Analytic practice in which there is solid evidence for the use of Telehealth.
