Session 6: An ACT Primer with D.J. Moran, Ph.D., BCBA-D

Moran walks the listener through the basics of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy model, and provides examples of how it can be helpful. Daniel J. Moran, PhD, BCBA-D, received his doctorate from Hofstra University in 1998. He began his training in acceptance and commitment therapy in 1994 and founded the MidAmerican Psychological Institute in Joliet, IL in 2003. In addition, D.J. is the founder of Pickslyde Consulting, an organization that has taken ACTraining to organizations and corporations worldwide. D.J. presented well over 100 ACT workshops on six continents, and was on the inaugural Association for Contextual Behavioral Science ACTrainer Committee. He co-authored ACT in Practice with Patty Bach, and a chapter about treating OCD with Steve Hayes.

D.J. has appeared on The Learning Channel, Animal Planet, & the Oprah Winfrey Network, and is committed to making Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles more simply understood and applicable for clinicians so they can help reduce suffering and improve quality of living for their clients.

Objectives of this training:

  3. The learner will be able to describe the role of Psychological Flexibility in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
